Keegan Clair Park

About this Project

This project involved three components with collaboration from three design firms. The first project was the addition of an 18 slip courtesy boat dock. The second project was a shoreline stabilization project. The third project was the upland improvements to Keegan Clair Park.

Heartwood and Bark was responsible for the uplands improvements. This included the addition of sidewalks, curbing, pedestrian bridges, kayak launch area, and landscape to the park. There was also a downtown walking map prepared for wayfinding to the shopping and dining options in the Narrows Business District. A permanent information kiosk is proposed for a later phase of work.

The project includes a kayak and canoe launching area. Support facilities such as a kayak wash-off deck, an outdoor shower and parking spaces with extra length for trailers provide the park users with a pleasant non-powered boating experience. The courtesy docks have proved to be very successful and are heavily used by boaters that frequent the Narrows Business District.

The uplands landscape was designed as a passive recreation park that is popular with dog walkers, fishermen as well as the boating public. The landscape features native and “Florida Friendly” plant material.
