About this Project
The renovation of the landscape at the Safety Harbor Spa capped off a project by Olympia Development Group that included upgrades to the existing conference facilities and guest rooms and included new spa treatment rooms. Landscape Architectural work by Heartwood and Bark included the renovation of the landscape at the rear of this multi-building facility.
The new spa treatment rooms have a relaxation plaza situated under the shade of an existing Live Oak tree. The adjacent courtyard is bounded by building on three sides and opens to a view of Tampa Bay on the fourth side. This courtyard includes a fountain, brick paving surfaces, seating opportunities and lush tropical landscaping for the guests to enjoy between spa treatments. The landscaping was designed to provide a privacy buffer between the guest rooms and the public areas of the courtyard while preserving the views to the bay from the guest room balconies.
The management required utility vehicle access to the treatment rooms and plaza area. The wide concrete sidewalk was reinforced to provide this function to the space while blending into the overall serene and relaxed environment.
